Infineon offers a broad portfolio of MOTIX™ full-bridge ICs for operation voltages up to 42 V
Infineon Technologies has launched a full-bridge controller for brushed DC motors in automotive applications.
The Motix Bridge BTM90xx family of full-bridge/H-bridge controllers is optimized for applications such as door, mirror, seat, body and zone control modules. Accompanying safety documentation is available to enable the controller to be used in other industrial safety applications.
The BTM90xx family features high functionality for intelligent and compact motor control solutions. The devices operate with a supply voltage range of 7 V to 18 V during normal operation, with an extended range of 4.5 V to 40 V, and include protection and diagnostic functions such as over-temperature, under-voltage, over-current, cross-current and short circuit detection. Current is measured on both the high-side and low-side switches, and the devices are suitable for automotive applications with a current limit of at least 10 A (BTM901x) or 20 A (BTM902x). PWM operation is possible up to frequencies of 20 kHz.

The BTM9011EP and BTM9021EP are SPI variants and support a pin-saving daisy-chain feature to reduce overall system costs. The BTM9021 also integrates a watchdog. The BTM90xx’s small TSDSO-14 package (4.9 x 6.0 mm) reduces overall PCB space and improves the thermal performance of the device while featuring a large exposed pad.
To simplify the evaluation and design process for the MOTIX BTM90xx, Infineon also offers a comprehensive support package including technical product documentation, simulation models, power calculation tools, evaluation boards, and Arduino example code. Additionally, device drivers and a full bridge configuration wizard are available free of charge from the Infineon Developer Centre (IDC).
